While there is an overwhelming amount of information resources and reports about COVID-19, we wanted to let our Clients and families know what California CareGivers is doing to ensure that we continue to provide Compassionate Care. The health and safety of our Clients and caregivers has always been our first priority. As such, we utilize Universal Safety Precautions, which include hand washing, safety gloves and proper contact and sanitation protocols. During this pandemic, California CareGivers has heightened our efforts to protect our Clients, Caregivers and Staff by reinforcing these rules of engagement. Whatever the health threat, we will continue our mission of “Supporting Families” using all relevant knowledge and best practices.
Studies have shown that older adults are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. That is why we are taking extra measures to encourage our Caregivers to stay home if they have a cough, cold or flu-like symptoms and to distance themselves from any friends or family members who have been sick or traveling recently. We continue to seek guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health authorities and will follow all protocols and guidelines issued.
We believe that California CareGivers is well prepared. It is our standard practice to train Caregivers and Staff on preventative measures to keep Clients safe. We regularly stock an ample supply of Caregiving related products (gloves, wipes, masks, etc.). It is standard practice for our Caregivers to monitor the condition of our Clients and immediately report any changes to the office. We are currently reinforcing and/or adding to the following existing safety measures:
We have reiterated and reinforced with all Caregivers the precautions needed to prevent viruses from spreading, including regular hand washing and disinfecting surfaces…
- Caregivers are on the alert to recognize and report symptoms such as fever, cough, headache and breathing difficulties
- Caregivers have been informed to stay home and away from Clients if they are coughing, sick and/or manifesting flu-like symptoms
- California CareGivers has always distributed gloves, masks, sanitizing wipes and other materials. As you are likely aware, some of these items are in very short supply. We therefore ask families to help supply these items if possible.
- We are providing our Caregivers and Staff with ongoing communications as COVID-19 events unfold
California CareGivers remains 100% focused on the well-being and peace of mind of our Clients. Communication with Clients and families, while always important, is more so now with the uncertainty and rapidly changing situation. We will continue to provide updates should the CDC and local health departments suggest additional precautions that affect our service.
Our CareGivers of the Month for February 2020 are Radha, Amy, and Winnie. They show what it takes to be a California CareGiver and make us head and shoulders above others.
Our August CareGivers of the Month are Nina, Vicky, and Savon. These three amazing caregivers show what it takes to be a California CareGiver.
The name Zorina, is not a common name it means “Golden Dawn”. To us at California CareGivers, she’s worth her weight in gold. She prefers to be called Nina, and thoroughly enjoys the time she spends with all of her clients.
Caregiving is a personal passion that began when Nina started caring for her mother. That experience sparked an interest in helping and caring for clients. This is a passion that brings joy to her heart.
She’s looking forward to one day visiting her husband’s relatives in Europe. Maybe, while she’s in Europe she’ll be able to make a detour to Italy and eat her favorite Italian dishes. Mangia! Nina!
Vicky is known as one heck of a dependable caregiver. She occupies her spare time playing Sudoku and working on crossword puzzles. When Vicky’s not caregiving, playing Sudoku, or completing puzzles, she can be found enroute to locations around the U.S. ranging from the West Coast all the way to New York and Florida and even venturing abroad. Her favorite destination so far? Montego Bay, Jamaica. “Wah Gwaan” Vicky!
Savon is a truly compassionate caregiver. In the short time she’s been with California Caregivers, she continues to amaze us. When she isn’t helping one of her clients, she can be found poring over cookbooks in search of the next great recipe or diving headfirst into one of many interior design sources. Interior design and decorating is her kryptonite. When asked what her favorite style or period in design is, she’ll probably reply “ALL OF THEM!”.
If you could sum up Savon in one word, it would be compassionate. She’s a naturally caring and nurturing soul with a passion for helping others. She does these things with no judgment to ensure they feel comfortable, safe and have their dignity. That’s why she’s a California CareGiver.
Our July CareGivers of the Month are Setaita, Kara, and Gloria. These three amazing caregivers show what it takes to be a California CareGiver.
“Setaita” literally means “Gift of God” and we truly believe it. In senior care, ability is important, but being attentive is critical. Setaita’s caring and attentiveness is off the charts and means the world to our clients.
She grew up in Fiji looking after her family which ended up being good training for being a California CareGiver. She has the passion and strength to excel and her actions show what she’s capable of.
Setaita loves to bake and cook. She gets lots of compliments on her delicious homemade chocolate cake. Her other love is gardening flowers and veggies. The next time you see her, ask what she’s got growing in the garden, or when her next chocolate cake will be ready.
Look up the name “Kara” and you’ll find it means many things depending on where you’re from. They range from pure and precious, to cherished and loved one”. We think she embodies all of those, but our clients see a special side of her that’s not on the list but should be. She’s extremely attentive. That’s one reason they love her.
The caregiving profession wasn’t her first choice, but after doing it for a while, she realized caring for others is something that comes naturally and she genuinely loves to do it.
Kara is an amazing mom. When she’s not working, she’s raising her six amazing kids or is doing her other hobby which is anything BEYONCE.
The name Gloria only has one meaning: it’s Latin for glory or glorious and means beauty. Our Gloria lives up to her name in body and spirit. She’s gloriously compassionate and loves to help others. If you ask her, she’ll tell you she does it because it makes her a better person, It gives her purpose, and fills her heart. We think she does it because she really cares about people.
Gloria is a fan of the San Francisco Giants, loves watching classic black & white movies, and reading a good book. Currently, she’s writing a self-help motivational getting-to-know-yourself book. Any way you look at it, Gloria’s an inspiration to all.
